Global Fertilizer Supply Under Pressure
Presented by Heartland Investor Capital Management Inc. CTA
🌽 Corn:
Corn pulled back on Turnaround Tuesday after Monday’s strong rally.
Pro Farmer Tour findings in eastern Nebraska are running roughly 6 bushels below last year.
Gene continues to see upside potential toward $5.24, with March corn potentially challenging $6 if yields soften.
🌱 Soybeans:
Soybeans gave back overnight strength but remain technically constructive.
Support is expected around $12.00–$12.05, with another push toward $12.40 possible.
Continued Chinese buying could eventually help push prices toward the $13 area.
🌾 Wheat:
Wheat posted an outside day lower and could see additional short-term weakness.
Black Sea shipping remains heavily disrupted while global buyers continue waiting for cheaper supplies.
Gene expects importers will eventually need to turn toward European and potentially U.S. wheat.
🧪 Fertilizer:
Global fertilizer supplies remain under pressure as traffic through the Strait of Hormuz stays severely restricted.
Roughly 34% of global nitrogen trade and 49% of sulfur trade normally moves through the region.
The bigger concern is fertilizer availability heading into fall and the 2027 growing season.
🐄 Cattle:
Live cattle posted modest gains after workers voted to return to the Fort Morgan processing plant.
October cattle need to hold near $217.50 and spend time above $220.25 to strengthen the recovery outlook.
October feeders need to hold the $321–$322 area, with resistance remaining overhead on rallies.
🛢️ Crude Oil:
Crude oil is attempting another upside breakout.
Tight Strait of Hormuz traffic, renewed Iran uncertainty, and the heart of hurricane season remain supportive risks.
