Crop Ratings Slip, Weather Takes Over
Presented by Heartland Investor Capital Management Inc. CTA
🌽 Corn
Crop ratings dropped 4% from good to excellent.
Corn climbed back above $4.80 before fading from the session high.
Rain later this week is critical for the western Corn Belt.
The 200-day moving average near $4.67–$4.68 remains key support.
🌱 Soybeans
Good-to-excellent ratings declined 3%.
September beans bounced from the chart gap and 38% retracement.
The market remains corrective, but the longer-term outlook still favors higher prices.
Support extends toward $11.78, with upside potential beyond $12.50.
🌾 Wheat
Wheat briefly broke retracement and moving-average support before recovering.
Chicago wheat showed more strength than Kansas City.
Additional gains are needed to confirm the correction has ended.
🐂 Live Cattle
October cattle continue to find support near the 50% retracement.
Resistance around $224–$226 remains difficult.
Winter rallies could still reach into the lower $230s.
Those rallies may provide opportunities to finish pricing cattle.
🐄 Feeder Cattle
September feeders held the 62% retracement.
November feeders tested the deeper 78.6% level before bouncing.
Resistance around $348–$350 will be difficult to overcome.
Use recoveries to evaluate LRP coverage or option strategies.
🌧️ Weather
Meaningful rain is needed across the western Corn Belt and High Plains.
Scattered showers will not be enough.
Heat returns next week, increasing crop risk if the forecast misses.
